My Life part One

This is purely a list of (some of) the significant events in my life. After August 1992 they become more detailed, because that's when I bought my first Psion (a 256k Series 3) and began writing a daily journal. That period of my life is in My Life Part 2.

By the way, I make no apologies for the things that I do and don't mention - this is subjective and I've only included things that I particularly remember, or that were important to me later on. Also, I confess that a great deal of the historic and musical background in the years 1960-1970 was taken from Ian MacDonald's book "Revolution in the Head".

Here and there you'll see a graphic, this links to more detailed info - reflections, memories, and (after 9/92) extracts from my journal. Brain dumps, basically - they'll be updated as and when anything occurs to me. At the moment there are dumps on this page about childhood. Please send comments, corrections etc here.

Main headings:
early life - secondary school years - post-school arsing about - gigging - not gigging but chef'ing - unemployed, psychotherapy & Haringey Community Workshops - No. 1 Bedford Hill
In Part Two: With a Psion - working for Psion Software - Symbian - with a son - life after Symbian -

Part 1) Early life

As 1955 turned into 1956, Bill Haley was at number one with Rock Around the Clock. You *could* argue that that was the beginning of modern music (but don't bother arguing with me cos I don't really care). Subsequent number ones in 1956 (the year of my birth) were: Tennessee Ernie Ford - Sixteen Tons, Lou Busch - Zambesi, Dean Martin - Memories Are Made Of This, Dream Weavers - It's Almost Tomorrow, Winifred Atwell - Poor People Of Paris, Ronnie Hilton - No Other Love, Pat Boone - I'll Be Home (number one the day I was born), Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers - Why Do Fools Fall In Love, Doris Day - Whatever Will Be Will Be, Anne Shelton - Lay Down Your Arms, Frankie Laine - Woman In Love, Johnnie Ray - Just Walking In The Rain.

So I was born on 22/6/56. I imagine this was a significant event in my life, and had a fair amount of influence on later events, but I don't remember it too well. Someone was shouting & I couldn't breathe.
